How to cancel or freeze your PureGym membership

With the UK’s cost of living crisis hitting many people hard – hitting the highest level in 30 years – Britons have taken to canceling their unnecessary monthly outgoings, including Spotify Premium and Disney Plus.

If you’ve been considering canceling your PureGym membership, we’ve got all the details you need to know.

How to cancel PureGym membership

There are two things to bear in mind when it comes to canceling your PureGym membership: the type of membership you have and the agreed notice you must give.

Many people will be on a rolling monthly membership with PureGym, and the easiest way to cancel this is doing it yourself online.

The step-by-step process for doing this involves:

  • Logging in to your Member’s Area
  • Select ‘Your Profile’ and then select ‘Freezing or Cancelling’
  • Follow the instructions on screen for canceling

To cancel a rolling monthly contract, you’ll need to cancel your membership at least four working days before your next payment is due to stop the payment being taken.

If you’ve signed up to a fixed term membership, you’ll need to contact a member of PureGym’s Member Services Team to help you cancel.

You’ll be entitled to a refund of 50% for the remaining days of your membership.

To cancel your membership, send an email to member.services@puregym.com, stating your desire to end your membership.

What are the different PureGym membership plans?

There are a different ways to be a PureGym member, so, if you don’t want to cancel altogether, there might be another solution that saves you a bit of money.

For monthly memberships, where you’ll pay by Direct Debit each month, the options are:

  • Off Peak – access the gym during off-peak from £9.99 a month (depending on location). Off-peak hours also vary by location.
  • core- 24/7 access to a chosen location from £12.99 a month (inc. joining fee)
  • plus- 24/7 access to multi-gym locations from £18.99 a month (inc. joining fee)

Other membership options include:

  • Fixed term – you can save up to 10% off by paying for access in advance for 6, 9 or 12 months
  • student- Valid Unidays members can save 30% on memberships
  • Corporate discounts – Often, employers will have discounts or reduced joining fee deals for their employees. Contact your HR to find out if you have any PureGym discounts.

How to freeze your membership

If you’d like to just pause your gym membership while things settle, you can freeze your membership for up to three months.

The benefit of doing this is that, if you decide to re-activate it, you will be guaranteed your original membership price.

For Core members, it costs £6.99 per month to freeze your membership, and you won’t have to pay your monthly membership fee.

PureGym Plus members can freeze their membership for up to three months in a 12 month period for free.

There are plenty of ways you can work out without paying for a gym.
