2022 NFL Draft trade tracker: Every move, draft order changes, picks by team, analysis after Day Two
Of course, the wildest offseason in NFL history would feature one of the craziest first rounds in NFL Draft history. A whopping nine trades were executed in the first round, with two of those deals including star receivers AJ Brown and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.
Trades continued to play a major role in the draft on Friday night. Eight trades went down in the second round and four more were executed in the third round. Two Day 2 trades resulted in the selection of two of the draft’s top-ranked quarterbacks: Malik Willis and Matt Corrall. Willis and Corral were selected after one of the longest quarterback droughts in the history of the draft.
Let’s take a look at the biggest trades that took place on Day Two of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Titans stop Willis’ slide
A first-round projection, Willis was still on the board late in the third round. Willis finally heard his name called him after the Titans traded the No. 90 and No. 169 overall picks to the Raiders in exchange for the No. 86 overall pick. Willis will now look to apply pressure on Titans starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who was absent at the start of Titans OTAs.
Willis’ draft slide was reportedly due to teams’ concerns about the simplicity of the offense Willis ran during his years at Liberty, according to NFL Media. Willis, who ran for a whopping 27 touchdowns in two seasons at Liberty, will look to prove his critics wrong in Nashville.
Carolina Corrals Corral
Shortly after Willis saw his wait end, Corral was selected by the Panthers after Carolina traded the No. 137 overall pick and a 2023 third-round pick to the Patriots in exchange for the No. 94 overall pick. Corral comes to Carolina after throwing 49 touchdowns against 19 interceptions during his final two years at Ole Miss.
Willis and Corral were two of three quarterbacks selected on Friday night. The other quarterback, Desmond Ridder of Cincinnati, was selected by the Falcons with the 74th overall pick. The 54 picks between Ridder and new Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett was the longest stretch between the first two quarterbacks selected in the draft since 1975.
Packers cash in on WR
After not taking a receiver on Thursday night, the Packers made up for it on Friday after trading up to acquire former North Dakota State wideout Christian Watson with the No. 34 overall pick. The earliest selected receiver during Aaron Rodgers’ tenure in Green Bay, Watson was considered the top-ranked pass-catcher who was still available in the draft. The 6-foot-5 receiver averaged a sterling 20.8 yards per catch during his time with the Bison.
Texans jump Ravens
With Baltimore in position to draft him, former Alabama receiver John Metchie III was instead selected by the Texans, who sent three picks to Cleveland in order to move up to the No. 44 overall pick. In Metchie, the Texans acquired a player who likely would have been a first-round pick if not for an ACL injury that was sustained during last year’s SEC title game. Conversely, the Ravens are still looking for a receiver who can replace Marquise Brown, who was traded to the Cardinals during the first round of the draft.

The first running back was the result of a trade executed by the Jets and Giants. The Jets, who added more weapons to their offense after drafting receiver Garrett Wilson on Thursday night, sent the No. 38 and No. 146 overall picks to the Giants in exchange for the No. 36 overall pick. With the pick, the Jets selected Breece Hall, who rushed for 50 touchdowns while averaging 5.5 yards per carry during his time at Iowa State.
